Stage 1 kit install in Memphis, TN (or west TN)

Has anyone gotten a Stage 1 kit install anywhere near the Memphis, TN area? I'm hoping to get one, but the service department where I got my SS, doesn't even know what a Stage 1 kit is.

Dealer install

I also live near Memphis. I'm planning on taking mine to Jimmy Grey in Southaven.
You might try Serra or Chuck Hutton since they're closer to you.
I would think any dealer could do it since there are instructions in the kit.
If they can't, they got bigger problems.

Thanks jomack. Let me know how your install goes. I agree that any dealership should be able to do it, but I would rather take it to a dealership that wouldn't be learning on my car.

I recently inquired about the same issue for one of my HHR SS's = I was told by a dealership in my area that they won't do a GM STAGE KIT because our HHRS are too old = they mentioned onlyon vehicles from 2014 and above...

For 1/2 the cost you can do it the same or better by installing the MAP sensors and a tune from ZZP yourself. The "GM Turbo Upgrade" (GMTU) as they called it, was worth the extra cost because it didn't affect the warranty. That's no longer a benefit..

You can also do a slightly milder tune without the "3 bar" MAP sensors, needed only because of the high level of boost.

A local dealer near me (Canada) still has 1 in stock.......must be just a general "Stage 1" kit with the same sensors as 20 years ago........then they just map the individual car.

About 5 years ago the local Chevy dealer quoted me $800 or $900. It's comparable I think to the original price. Probably highly negotiable.

Are they offering just a kit which is nothing but the two map sensors? Or are they offering to install it. It'd be interesting to know if that's still available because they have to connect to corporate computers to do it.

The original kids instructions called for installing the MAP sensors with crimped connections. Those have proved to be problematic with time, and now it's highly recommended to get pigtails to eliminate that problem. They're not expensive and available online.

One of the MAP sensors required a slight modification, trimming off a bit of plastic to ease the installation and ensure no leak. I don't think that was on the original instructions either.

The original MAP sensors are mostly out of stock, and there's a new version that does the exact same thing but they look a little different. I don't know if those also require the trimming.

So to repeat myself slightly, get clarity from the dealer on whether they're offering just the map sensors or the installation as well. I'd love to know the outcome.

The kit at the dealer is pretty much dead stock at this point. Thus, the price might be highly negotiable. I once found a dead stock item I needed from a dealer who sold it to me for not much more than the cost of the shipping. But to install these sensors and load the tune has to be at least 2 hours of shop time.

Here's the kit ZZP offers. No tune included. That's extra.
