It various depending on what the PCM has to do to control the torque but generally you will see 15 PSI. You might see a short spike higher but you will see the PCM immediately dial it back.

That is what I saw on several I've driven (and mine). With the upgrade I see 21 PSI with occasional spikes to 22-23 but quickly pulled back.

ok, thx. we have an appointment with the dealer to check that the reflash took on the controller. it did go to 20 right after the upgrade but now only around 17

Oh, you have the upgrade? The problem is lots of factors affect the boost pressure (elevation is a big one). It can vary under normal conditions. I am assuming you didn't change the exhaust since that will affect boost pressure too.

You could also have the ever popular loose hose clamp too. I tightened mine before I took it in and they rechecked them when the did the install. So far so good. If there is something amiss they should be able to find it.

boost issue

checked the clamp t the air box, and it took a bit of a turn,b ut it didn't affect the boost level. i'm thinking either the refalsh didn't take, or the 'tech' didn't or couldn't do it correctly. it runs fine, but as if it didn't get the option. its not intermittent, so i'm thinking its not a wire splice issue. Monday morning its in for a check on the situation. still has enough to 'eat' an srt-4 last night

i think i read you have an auto. there are 2 flashes for it. one with the brake upgrade and one without.. make sure they use the correct flash

If the reflash did not "take" you would have a check engine light on from the second key cycle after the sensor install. The ECM does not loose it's flash. If you are seeing lower boost numbers there are a lot of things that cause a lower number, weather/altitude conditions, leaks, waste gate sticking......

The cal does NOT set a boost level. It is a torque based calibration and only produces the amount of boost required to meet the torque requested. Boost is an out come and not a controlled parameter.

What month did you get the upgrade? What was the outside temperature where you were getting 20 psi?

boost issue

its a 5spd, the upgrade was done 3 weeks ago, and on the ride home when i saw 20lbs. it was in late afternoon, certainly not chilly. the torque steer when it was full tilt in 2nd was as impressive as any i felt from my old buick skyhawk 1.8 with the 'stuck' wastegate. the boost since then has never spiked over 17 regardless of outside temp. or fuel quality. if the reflash wasn't done at all, would the pcm readjust the output back to original levels after a little driving, without putting out a code? also, with the driver display set on 'power output' it doesn't go past about 270hp, which to me seems more like stock hp.i'll let you know what the dealer finds (nothing?)on Monday.maybe there's an air leak i didn't find when I did the first oil change

is that measured at the crank or to the wheels??? i do not have th gm tune, but almost two years ago i had mine on the dyno and bone stock it put out around 245 to the wheels. with the tune 261 to the wheels.. willing to bet temp. is playing a factor or a boost leak.

To give a quick answer to the OP, a stock SS should typically see 15psi in "normal driving" situations. With spirited driving, some spikes to 20psi can be seen when the gas pedal's floored.
