Texas residents step inside.

So i need some help from those of you who live in texas. I will be moving down there come summer time and i have a question. I will be getting a catless downpipe from ADM soon as well as the exhaust and im wondering about the emissions laws in texas. What do they do when you go in for emissions and such. Or should i leave a cat on?

Your vehicle will not pass a Texas State Inspection and you won't be able to title the vehicle in Texas.

Ill be erasing the code with hp tuners so thats not an issue. And im not the main person on the car so i might just leave illinois plates on it i dont have to change them. Or i can just get the stock cat punched and still erase the code and the cat will still be there but with nothing inside

Stay away from the big cities and suburbs and you'll have no problem. Here in my town we have no emisions testing.

And learn how to use "Yawl" ALOT!

If u erase the code, the station that will do the inspection will inform u to drive it for a certain amount of miles, then bring it back. Ur best bet is to reinstall ur cat untill after u have done ur inspection or use a cheater type setup. They may or maynot look under ur car to see that the cat is installed... they usually just plug into the ecu of the car. I had the same type of problem with my eclipse... the first year... I just reistalled my cat, the second year... tricked my o2 sensor.. Good luck .

Verifying the vehicle has a cat is part of the inspection process, no matter what city you are in.

So there you have it. Find someone that doesn't mind passing an illegal vehicle. Dealerships can't afford to lose their licenses because we must be able to inspect our new vehicles before selling. And the DPS likes to rig cars with cameras just to see if we will pass a vehicle that shouldn't. nuff said.
