It was still covered under warranty, so they did a rebuild. So if the first one lasted about 70k with the upgrade, how long is the rebuilt one going to last when I add the trifecta and DP?

Well, sure enough, I found out that my transmission was slipping the 2-3 shift. which is not good for the tranny Lucky I have been taking to mostly 1/8 mile tracks, and only took it to a 1/4 mile track one time. Now here is the thing, my plan is to Bracket race my HHR. and one thing i noticed with the tune i had, is that the HHR was very, very inconsistent. sometimes it would run very nice number, then slow down. In first gear i could feel the boost rise, then drop, then rise again. sometimes would do it more then other times. Then as i was doing research i found out that HP Tuners had recently released and update with more tables. I did not know that or i would have had my friend that races and tunes LSX motors, do the tuning on my HHR.

So I had my brothers tuner hook up his HP Tuners to my HHR and did some logs, and was surprised to find out that my trans was slipping on the 2-3 shift. He also found other things that he fixed with the tune. I decided to keep the same power level and boost, but after his fixes it picked up about 1/2 tenth in the 1/8 mile, which is nice. I left my tune launching soft and letting the power start coming in around 3k in first gear. and has nicer street manners.

Now that i have a Nice Clean tune, with no throttle being pulled, no knock retard, and no trans slipping etc.. and I am very happy, yesterday at the track i had 5 passes, where i ran super consistent! 1. (8.823) 2. (8.819) 3. (8.823)"yes identical to the first pass!" 4. (8.798) and 5. (8.818). So 4 passes were within .005 of each other and one was within .025. Insane It would never do that before!
Now to work on my RT's and I think i can cause some damage with my HHR! Unfortunately i will be competing against him and he is good lol!

If anyone needs a good Tuner in the San Diego area, PM me and i will give you His number. He doesn't have a shop. But he tunes with years and years of racing experience, and lots of racing championships.

This is the guy that tuned my car. he had an amazing year last year.

No disrespect, but that guy should be running 11's in that Vette. Im right on the edge of getting 11's myself. But that is neither here, nor there. As it leads away from the topic. Sorry !

yes, the car is capable of running much faster, but he can't, because there is a 12.00 cut off for the sportsman bracket he races in. I remember him telling me about when he was checking out the weather report for the ET finals in Pomona, he had to re-tune the car 3 times lol. He checked see how they predicted the weather like a week before.. he saw he was going to go too fast, so he slowed it down, then checked the weather a few days later, and it was going to be better then what they said before. so he did it again, then when he check it again like the day before he left, he had to slow it down again, because he knew he would easily go into the 11 then. But since hes a sportsman bracket racer, hes limited to 12.00

Yeah, we do brackets occasionally.. really hard to "sandbag" especially if you got pedal left. I'll take heads-up anyday.
