Whats your temp, Per the DIC at say 80 MPH. in a 5 speed 2008 SS.

I know that mine seems to run about 190* when I'm on surface streets. This is with the ambient air temp at about 110* though. I've never looked when on the highway, so I can't help you there...

 

Coming back from a 750 mile road trip to New Orleans this summer, my temps ranged from 192-201 cruising on I-55. Was traveling 78mph according to the GPS.

 

I sit right between 192 and 201 at highway speeds depending on outside air temp.

 

186 to 190. When I beat the **** out of it I see 199

 

my 08 5spd ss runs about 195 to 201 most of tme. I've had my wifes 08ss in the shop twice for what I feel is overheating it is an auto. it runs 198 to 205 most of time. going uphill it gets to 221. dealer ran diagnostic. says ok, but to me 221 uphill is hot, it does cool down to 205 quickly when gets more level

 

In what gear going up hill ? How long of a incline ?

 

the 5 spd is in 4th or 5th at 70 mph clims from 2000 to 5000 in 3 miles. it gets about 205-207. the auto is in dr or 4th gear same road with outside temp both times about 75 to 80 speed about 65-70, no pushing or floorboarding, just easy climb, it gets 219-221, but does cool to about 205 when more level. going downhill on this road auto runs about 5 degrees COOLER. dealer says all is cool.

 

If my SS got too 221 degrees , i'd probally s-it myself before calling gm roadside assistance ! Thats way to hot. IMHO
Hotest i've seen is 204

 

Mine runs 192 most of the time, 210 worst case (75 mph posted limit, 115 deg in AZ and air on for about 4 hrs). Oil temp (on Aeroforce gauge) is consistently 6 deg F over water temp.
