so a ported tb would be a better option than a 2.4?

To be honest, for a 2.2 with no other performance mods, I don't think you'd get a practical gain with either a ported 2.2 throttle body or TB off a 2.4.

I'd spend my money, first, on a Flowmaster exhaust and, if the truck is an automatic, on an Airaid intake kit.

Why "and if the car is an automatic" and Airraid kit.

Well, I think its worth it, my brother n law has a stock 06 5 speed cobalt and it picked up a little over 5hp on our shop dyno and my son,s 06 auto cobalt (K&N air intake) was just shy of 8hp increase.

The Airaid intake kit is not compatible with the manual trans. trucks. The rear of the airbox interferes with the cowl. I could not determine conclusively why this is but my belief is the engine is either mounted in a slightly different position or is tilted back more if the transmission is a manual.

I found that out when I started to do a product review of that system for this web site. When the kit did not fit properly, I called Airaid and, after a number of calls and emails with first their customer service dept and later their engineering staff, they agreed there was a problem. They, also, admitted that they didn't validate the kit on manual trans trucks and were unaware of the problem with their intake kit and the manuals until I brought it to their attention.

At the time (last Fall) they said they'd give anyone who bought the kit for a manual a refund. They, also, told me they had no plans to offer a specific kit for the manuals but might consider doing so at a later time.
