Airaid Filter Installed!
To avoid any oil mist contamination to the mass air sensor get an Amsoil "Oil Free" filter. It costs about $70ish and is good for at least 100,000 miles. To clean it all you do is use a vacume cleaner every few (5) thousand miles or so and put it back on. It bright blue and looks good installed. it is the same size and shape as the Airraid filter only "it's oil free!!!".
I have thought about installing an AIRAID on my LS. Mine is equipped with the 5-speed tranny and I wanted to know if anyone had fitment and/or hood clearance issues??? I recently read on one of the post that they had clearance issues with the hood. Something about the “engine sat closer to the firewall” if it was a 5-speed and the AIRAID hit the hood???? Information would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldnt cut the hood. The hood is designed with crush points/crumple zones in it. Cutting the hood may make it weeked and therefor bend in the middle like the old muscle cars did with hanging hood hinges, particularly the 1970 Torinos.
Just out of curiousity what is the the Airaid intake made out of? I have been thinking about some custom intakes however im not sure what any intake is made out and been trying to figure it out. Im also planning on cutting into the hood, like another member on here has already done, and making a functional hood scope.
