airaid intake help

airaid intake help

I've installed the Airaid Cold Air Intake, before and after the installation I kept getting "Reduced Engine Power" notice on the DIC. Now the dealer is saying, after 4 trips for the same problem, that the Airaid is voiding the warranty.

They took the car out with the meter plugged in, the "Reduced Engine Power" light came on, but all the readings were within the guidelines, so they are baffled and GM told them that I have to put on the stock filter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I love my HHR, but this problem is getting old. They replaced the throttle sensor, the gas pedal sensor and some sensor for the transmission, problems still exsists.

got any pics of the intake? When you installed the intake did you take one of the battery cables off? I was tould that When i put the intake on my lancer to do this so that the ECU would learn that it could suck more air in, Just take one off I did the Negitive, then put it on and let it idel for 5 -10 min.... Just an idea, may help...

thanks. Yes I did remove the neg. from the battery before I did anything.

Intake

This sounds like to me the oxygen sensor is bad...I recently traded my HHR in for the SS and when i took of my AIRAID intake and put on the old intake I forgot that the Oxygen sensor was in the AIRAID and when i was done installing my stock filter and pulling out of our shop my car was idling funny then i later realized what was going on....but i never had the message of "reduced power" but to me it sounds like an oxygen sensor!!!!

Sounds to me that it has nothing to do with the Air Raid. Put your stock back on get it fixed and then switch back the the air raid. If it starts again see another dealer.

I put an airraid on my 2.2 and had no problems at all. It makes a really nice noise when I get on it. I followed all the directions, it was pretty easy but had no issues what soever. Did you check to make sure you did not bump any fuses from the fuse box when disconnecting the battery?

I have not had any problems with my Airiad

I have not had any problems with my Airiad but I agree with Stick. Replace the factory air filter and see what happens. I do not believe the Airiad is the problem but you still need to eliminate that as the problem.

Red face airaid intake ok

GM finally discovered that a grounding bar by the drivers side kickplate wasn't designed right and had corroaded from water, thus causing the problem. The airaid intake had nothing to do with the problem.
