Imperial gallons

I am from Canada and our vehicles are in imperial gallons. I filled up yesterday and the mileage range was 960 kilometers which = 576 miles I am going up to Manitoulin Island today so I will hypermile and we will see how much gas we are burning. I will post the pictures of the information center on the dash when I return. Right now it reads 6.9 liters/100 kilometers. We will try and do better on this run. Wish us luck.

In my Absurd Mileage thread, I have been tracking the difference between what my "fuel range" saids and the reality. Always turn your car completly off and then turn the power (not the engine) back on to check the DIC fuel range. It will change EVERYTIME. The manual probably saids why this is, but always check fuel range after completely shutting off the car.

Mileage

It worked out pretty good but had to start and stop way too much. Oh well 6.4 liters/100 kilometers which works out to 44.1375 MPG. How do we post the pics on the forum?

Uhh, are you on DOPE? LOL....j/k....Seriously I though I explained how to convert from liter/km to mpg.....

YOU ARE ONLY GETTING 36.75 Miles Per US Gallon

That is good mileage! But with out a full explanation...distance traveled, number of stops, cold starts, terrain, tire pressure, avg speeed...

It doesnt mean a whole lot. It's the HOW that is important. I am interested in your post but the more information --the more better. I think it would help

you gave both U.S. and IMPERIAL gallons. Check out my post, keep track of the same parameters. I think that might help better gauge your hypermiling. I havent updated it recently. But Ill get to it tomorrow.

This post is toooo funny.

40mpg, yeah right, I wish..and you do too.

Whip out your calculator and do this with me. 100km/1.6(km in one US mile)= A then 6.9liters/3.78(liters in one US gallon)=B ..

do a little algebra A/B=

Your welcome.

I am getting on some mixed drives up to and below 6.0 liters/km

Thanks

city mileage

A lot of highway posts here so I'll post city for reference. Ours gets 26ish all city in hilly Massachusetts roads. No highway experience yet. Vehicle was 24ish when brand new and has slowly creeped up to 26 average now at 6 thousand miles. Driving conditions have been constant since new. Must be engine breaking in if I had to guess.

Im getting an average of 28 mpg in the city no matter how I drive. Ive tried slowing down compared to my more aggresive driving and no difference. Was getting about 30-32 on the freeway on vacation.

28 is great in the city. Thats probably the best that can be done without serious hypermiling. The best city drive I have done is a 4.6 mile round trip (exactly the same rout there and back) to arbis from a cold start. I got about 35.1mpg and I went through the drive through...lol. Now 35.1 mpg in the city is SERIOUS FUEL SIPPING. 67% better than sticker

I also took a 19.3 mile round trip 100% in the surburbia city (the second half was a cold start) and average a hair over 31mpg. There are probably 15 lights and stop signs on this heavily traveled road each way. 47% better than sticker.

I would/could not do this with an automatic.

I have only put (2) tank fulls thru my LS and average 33/34 mpg.
I mainly drive on the freeway and little "in-town" driving. This is a lot better then my '05 Impala LS!
