2.2 mileage

It's all good babies. Check out my pics in the photo album and the chrome strip I put on the bottom of the front air dam. It makes it look like the car is sitting lower. Mabe thats why I'm getting such cool mileage?

30 + Mpg??????

What the heck are you guys doing to average over 30 MPG with city/highway driving. I spend my entire commute trying to wring out every MPG I can and the best I get is 25.5 to 26 MPG. Being in FLA, most of my driving is on relatively flat roads so I don't have any steep hills to deal with.

I use the cruise control as much as possible and I monitor the instant info reading on the DIC. I stay away from the 10% ethanol mix some stations pimp out here in FLA. I've tried a few differnt brands but one does not seem to be any better than the other. I'm using 87 octane but if I bump it up to 89 or higher, any savings I gain on MPG's are eaten up in the price per gallon. Any suggestions???

I drove from StL to Atl this summer with cruise on at about 75 mph and I got just over 30. In normal city driving, I've never seen that again!

I drove from Lakeland fl, to Lake City FL w/ cruise set at 75 and got 30mpg, on the way back I set the cruise at 63 and got 34mpg. I used a 3/4 tank going up, and 1/2 coming back. Their is a big differance when setting your cruise speed. The higher you set it, the lower your fuel economy will be. Try setting it lower, and I bet your fuel economy will be better.

Yeah, but who wants to drive that slow? I'm really not concerned with gas mileage anyway. If this thing had a 454 4-barrel and only got 10 mpg, I'd still drive it as much..........hell, probably a lot more!

Fuel mileage is largely a function of driving habits.
My wife's HHR has the 2.2 and she averages just under 28MPG. She drives it 80% of the time and tends to drive aggressively. (Fast starts and hard braking, higher speed on the highway) When I drive it, I can get 31 - 32MPG, just by slowing down a bit and coasting before known stops.

Yeah the only way to get good gas mileage is to CARE about it..lol.

My tanks range from 390 to 525 miles. That all depends on how much I care. I fill up I almost always fit between 14.2 and 14.5 gallons back in. So 27-36mpg and I never get to take extended highway drives since I have a 1 year old ... I also live in a relatively large city.

I fill up once a week and run the tank almost empty. I almost always get 30mpg.
I used to try to stretch but gave up. Just takes the fun out of driving.

My question I have that has not been mentioned is who is driving a stick or automatic? I use a stick and I think it makes a difference. Best I have ever done is 33, but I really had to work at it.

Im manual, and that is the eaisiest way to up the mileage in the city, just don't use more than you need. But speed when you need also.
