Imco 924

I'm sure this is a repeat question, but I do not have much time here in Iraq to dig around on the forum.

Where is the best online source to buy the IMCO 924? Or can this muffler be ordered by O'riellys or Autozone?

I am assuming this muffler is the correct one for my HHR, I have a 2008 2.2

Thanks

Personally, I would not get one. You would be replacing stainless with cheap rust-away. I'd spend a few more buck and get a stainless.

I don't know if imco has a stainless, but you may be able to find a magnaflow clone at a local muffler shop. Just tell them what your going for.

I just hate to spend a chunk of money and take a chance of not being happy with the sound. I have been eye balling the magnaflow cat-back since I bought my HHR in 2008.

I've got the magnaflow catback and LOVE it. Got it from Race & Street, a vendor here. Cheapest price I could find and I had it in a few days.

The Imco T-924 is for 2 1/4" pipe. For the 2.2L you would want the Imco T-909, this for a 2" system. 2.4L have the bigger pipe. It's the same muffler just different pipe openings. I started to look around, being I want to make "dual exhaust" and found Thrush Turbo muffler p/n 17711 to be the same dimension's as the Imco T-909. The Thrush goes for $25 and is easy to buy from Advance Auto and most likely O'Rielly's and Autozone. Thrush makes a Super Turbo p/n 17631 (same dimension as the other mufflers) that has a 3 tube design instead of the 2 tube the Imco and Turbo muffler have. It is a 2 1/4" in and out and would need a reducer to install to your system, but the sound would be mellower due to the 3 tubes. I've aso looked into Walker "Quite Flow" p/n 21535, which is the muffler used on a 67 T-Bird with a V8. It flows quite well but it don't have the performance sound. Also Walker Exhaust makes Dynomax and Thrush products. As far as Magna Flow goes, I talked to them. Their system,to me, are hi tech glass packs. They use acoustic design and the mufflers are packed with "Rock Wool". That's a direct quote from them. Rock Wool is home insulation you put in the walls of a house. I asked them why does their system gets louder with time. They said the Wool takes a "set". I reality part of the packing is burning/melting away. I asked if their system is life time and they said yes. Then I asked about the packing, there was a moment of silence, and then they said "well not really". If your curious call Manga Flow and ask some questions. I hope some of this helps.

I had a Thrush on mine after I got rid of the IMCO, it was too loud and rusted out in two years. You get what you pay for.
