I like mine so much I don't want to put a cat-back on!
The sound right now is perfect - deep & throaty!

I am concerned that it may be too quiet. I am used to hearing the engine while I am driving. What is it like inside the car? I would even consider a glasspack, but would it have too little back pressure? Utlimately I want the car not only to sound nice, but to be faster

It is faster - you can feel it. Even in neutral reving it, you can tell it's breathing better. 5-minutes after putting mine on I could tell it helped performance. Sorry no dyno charts. We tried several types of mufflers before settling on this one. Most offered too little back pressure for the engine. This particular IMCO (#924), is "just right"

Sound; at startup and idle it is noticeable that it's "not stock." Under normal driving conditions it can be heard in the cab, but not in a "droning" way like fart cans. where it is really noticeable is when you put your foot in it. then it is apparent the engine can breathe freely and make more power.

Here's a short video clip: HHR Exhaust Testing

For the money, you just can't go wrong with this muffler. It leaves just enough breathing "room" for more power with an intake later.

Hope it helps,

It's really nice at idle cause you can hear it idling this nice low sound. i couldnt hear it before in front of the house and now i can just hear it.

reving is awesome, fricking limiter makes it no fun
put your foot in it and ohhhhhh soooooo niceeeeeeeeeeee (thinks that is in a Kinks song) and you really feel it.
such a nice low throat sound going through all the gears and just seems like it is not working as hard as much now. because of the lightened week teaching i didnt drive as much and i took my bike out too,,, been a great week on motorcycle after the rain went away.
at cruise at high spped it is barely there which is nice,,, low and throaty at idle and a nice bark going through the gears and then quiet when cruising. kind of like the Van Halen song Best of Both Worlds.

for as reasonable of a mod as one can get,,, this is one you cant go wrong with and Mike is spot on and it makes it more fun to me to drive.
Just one more great reason to get me in it,,, like i need one.
bought 10-1-05 and about to roll over 13,000.
