Info Regaurding Air intakes.

I have an 09 hhr ls. Im looking to add an aftermarket intake. Can someone please let me know what, if any side affects can result and what brand intake to go with. I am new to the forum. Looking for some advise

welcome to the forum! the only thing you will get out of an intake is better sound. performance gains are actually losses in some cases and single digits gains in hp and tq at best. some people have had issues with filters being over oiled and throwing check engine lights on them. but i had an airaid intake on my last HHR and it sounded pretty cool. hope this helps

Thanks. Yea im not looking for a big HP increase. Really its just for underhood looks. I was thinking about the airaid intake myself. Any concerns on the reliability of the engine with an aftermarket intake.

if your going for looks, i think CGS is a little better, but the airaid has a rubber seal to help get cooler air. some dealerships may try to say that it will void your warranty but i believe that GM would have to prove it. if i had a problem(which i didnt) i would have just returned it to stock before going to a dealer. but they do not harm the engine at all in my opinion and GM has its own performance intake for the HHR($$$$)
