Anyone here install this on their 2.2L HHR, I noticed it was only listed for 2.4's but did not know if there was a specific reason.

Note that the other intake I was looking at was Air Raid but When given a chance, I have always tried to use K&N systems.

I did fwd a email to K&N to get an answer, unfortunately this sounds like a dead forum but either way I will get a answer posted.

Installed the same intake, though not the 57 series but the 63 series. Exactly the same thing, but the 63 prefix is pre-smog exemption/CARB approval. Installed it on a 2008 2.2, fit perfectly, save for one thing. Had to drill a hole in the base of the box to properly line up with the mounting points on top of the valve cover. Super small hole, super easy. Love the intake. See all the air raids, GM intakes, and CGS, but never another K&N.. Weird

I did get an answer from K&N, I'd thought I share.....

Dear Aaron,

Thanks for contacting K&N. We do not recommend installing 63-3056 kit on the 07 HHR 2.2. The 2.2 engine is very similar to the 2.4 however the manifold is different so the intake would not line up . Personally, I have seen this kit fitted on the 2.2 but the couplers have a tendency to fail prematurely because of extra stress.

K& N air intake kits are vehicle, engine specific so using a kit not specifically designed for your vehicle will void the K&N warranty and may result in subsequent engine damage.

Please let me know If you have any other questions.

Thank you,

Interesting....... but don't the 2.2 and 2.4 use the same factory intake? Maybe not, I've never directly compared them and the K&N guy should know his stuff......

Whats the aggrivating part is the K&N felt there was not enough demand to make 2 kits. Even if you have to buy them with seperate part #'s

Makes me want to do a DIY intake and in one of my previous post a guy had a nice scoop set up. Me thinks I will be doing the same.

The 2.2 and 2.4 intakes are different. A lot of people with the 2.2 are swapping out intakes and TB's from the 2.4's for a little extra power

I have thought about doing the air raid for the SS but I want to dyno first. To get a Baseline.

But is the air box different between the two? I know the intake manifold is different.

I'm pretty sure they are. I can't tell a difference visually and they use the same filter element
