NA/Cammed Build

NA/Cammed Build
Has anyone here cammed/tuned their HHR (with intake and exhaust redone, of course) and had favorable results? Any dyno numbers? Is Competition Cams the only cam manufacturer? Who does CPU tuning for the 2.2?

Have you actually tried searching for 2.2l cam posts/threads? Just did one and besides this thread no others about aftermarket 2.2l cams come up on the first page or so.
OP - Talk to HHRFREAK. His is a 2.4l IIRC but he did a lot including cams before tearing his motor apart to rebuild it. He might have supercharged it prior to cams so it may not be so relavent. Other option would be to look on the Cobalt forums.

There are some really cool builds on the cobalt, cavalier and ecotec forums. I am not sure if 2.2 VVT cams are available, but I know non-VVT cams are available(l61). If you do cams/higher compression/exhaust you can approach 200whp, which is ~80whp over stock.

Hasn't anyone on this board done a NA cammed build? Any dyno sheet numbers?

80 HP over stock? Where can I find this? Summit Racing has cams for the 2.2, but my concern is ascertaining that a proper tune can be found to avoid CPU issues. Rebuilding the engine would be more expensive than adding a turbo/blower.

The 2.2 has more capability than whats shown there, but that should give you an idea.

On l61/lap likely not. I did on my LE5. If you are looking for info on install/tuning for l61 check on the ecotec and jbody forums. I know there are several Cavalier guys that did it on l61...but if you have lap...then it makes things a bit more interesting...le5/lap heads are apparently the same?...though not sure on cam interchange...if they are then le5 stock/after market cams could work, but there is a thread on the cobalt forum of a lap guy that tried le5s and fubared his engine, but consensus is the install effed up the timing.

No but from what I've read on other forums and seen, it looks pretty simple. But this is coming from someone that has done a lot of cam swaps before on LSx engines which actually involve a lot more work.
The whole cam swap process should take someone about 2-4 hours if you know what you are doing. Supposedly, the timing is the hardest part and many people say it's actually hard to screw up the timing on an ecotec engine. But like I said, I'm just going off of what I've read. Haven't tried myself
