Nitrous bottle on a HHR?
Acutally thats where you are wrong. There are Toyota Supras making 1000 horses on a $20-30,000 budget and they're all streetable cars. Here in AZ they have a daily driven Supra making 900+ at the wheels with off the shelf parts. Nothing exotic. Nothing "one-off" custom made. Just some headwork, cams and a blower bigger than your head!
I'm sure there's more than that in the 2JZ but the thing its its not exotic. Its not 100K in the motor.
This is the kind of generalization that I'm talking about. The "v8" guys DO NOT know near as much about what the newer motors are capable of. Granted it IS a 6cyl motor and has a gigantic hairdryer but its still the import tuner motor. A 1000 horse Supra is a common place thing in the industry. Adding in nitrous can bump that output to 1200-1500 horses. these engines are tuned for a mix of pump gas and race gas. And on a street tune with pump gas (91 octane) they still make 850-900 horses. As long as you know what you're doing with electronic tuned engines you can accomplish anything. Its amazing what some ingenuity can achieve.
Try it on yahoo or google. Look up 1000 horsepower Supra's. They are all over and can deal some damage!

yep no problem making huge hp with boost or nitrous. Do it all motor bud!
Lets see ya top this. I can have this motor pictured below in two weeks built with off the shelf parts. Its a 738ci big block. 2300hp 1650ft/lbs torque. No blower no turbo, and no nitrous. Anyone can make hp with boost or nitrous. Anyone can tune a car to make hp with a blower and pump gas we have been doing it for years. Run real low CR #'s, back off your timing and tune your AF right to match and bingo.
This is where the tuner cars and ricers fail. They have to add boost or nitrous to get the big numbers.
If I was to use nitrous I could go with a smaller motor say a 565 and a pro fogger system pumpin out 1650hp. Maybe a 632 with a plate system running 2000hp.

My 540ci at 897hp got 4 gal/mi. Yep thats right 4 gallons per mile at wide open. Never checked the mpg or gpm just cruisin through town. My car only had a 5 gallon fuel cell.
As far as questioning that hp. How much hp is a current nhra pro stock car pumpin? Arnt they limited to a 500ci motor?
As far as stuffing that 738 in a hhr. Use lots of lube my friend. I think someone did a 396 in one. Lots of work but got it in and was a sweet ride.
Has anyone got some actual dyno numbers for the amount of hp add whith the motor mods that are available for the HHR. Like what can you get with that cold air intake?

Magnaflow exhaust
K&N intake
But then again who knows exactly how believable they are seeing as how they're the manufacturers numbers.
Here is a link to pump gas old school motors from a company I used for a long time. Good people that build some damn good motors.http://www.ultrastreet.net/
