Cheaper to sell it and buy the HHR you really want, as far as an engine swap. The 2.2 forum has lots of threads on mods if you want to go that way or some of the members who have done them will chime in.

You can pretty much replace all the internals in the 2.2 with GM performance or aftermarket parts and make as much power as you want. Or standard bolt ons, depending on which route you want to go.

Check out the gm performance build book. part number - 88958728

2006 2.2 5 speed here. Did the Airaid intake and am doing the CGS axle back this weekend. The 2.2 isn't a powerhouse, but can be warmed over a bit. My next move would be either a header or a tune, most likely the latter. With the Airaid i got a bit better mileage and overall power, the CGs is claimed to make 9 more hp at 2600 rpm's but i take that with a grain of salt. Turbo motor is going to require a whole electronic and drivetrain overhaul. Like someone said, may be cheaper to go with a used SS. That is my master plan after the 06 is paid off. seca650rj

There actually is a turbo motor for sale with a tranny on ebay right now. I have never had my car on a dyno but so far i have GMPP CAI,GMPP Catback exhaust, I have noticed some power I would like headers and open the intake and throttle body some more.Maybe even a Turbo.

i probley will go with just bolt ons, untill its paid off. i know the 2.2 is not a mad power house . i just want a little more power for getting around town. even if its 30+ horsepower then id be happy.

and also Chadpuska. where did you get that spoiler? i like it . thats the ss spoiler right ?

You'd be lucky to get 30 hp with full bolt ons and tune IMO.
