Removing 2 Cat??
I'm aware of the laws. I've talked with private shops as well as places like Midas and fifty. They won't do the cat delete but informed me that it will be fine in the state.
I'm actually surprised that a reputable muffler shop would remove a cat and not reinstall one in it's place. I say that, then I remember how much $ they get for the removed cat...I'm guessing you didn't keep the cat the removed?
You like popping sounds under deceleration?

Me too. He even told me that they are not allowed to touch the cats. $40 To remove it and yes I kept the cat. It sounds excellent. Well it's a personal opinion. It has more popping and about twice as loud as with just the resonator removed.
here is the soundclip. just a cell phone. i dont have any good audio equipment.

If you like it that's all that matters. It doesn't sound bad...for another $40-60 you could have gotten a magnaflow put on it would have sounded a little better and gave you free flow muffler. I'm going to have my resonator welded back on and I'm putting a Dynomax on and calling it a day.
I am aware of federal law but it can also be argued if the secondary converter is considered vital or for use in states with stricter than federal guidelines. If you want to get technical many states have guidelines that a vehicles exhaust may not be,modified in any way that makes it louder than factory settings. Therefore muffler shops would be illegal. I'm actually active in my state with SAN and other local organizations who oppose laws that restrict owners rights needlessly. Personally I say as long as it's still clean and not annoyingly loud it should be a matter of personal taste. I promise even cutting the exhaust off at our manifold the modern 4 cyl will run cleaner emissions than any 90s era or previous vehicles. If your shocked that shops would do work generally they are the ones who know the local laws and enforcement of federal laws in their area. I am aware catless dp are labeled off road or track use only. Congrats swerv glad you like it. To each their own. I plan on doing my exhaust once my annual bonus comes in.

But it was legal. Removing and eliminating cats, especially cats today, is a total waste. You gain nothing by it. You want to do it, by all means go ahead. Don't be shocked when a future buyer down the road passes it by due to this. I know I would.
