Also, how many miles are on it? If it's approaching 100k or over, have the spark plugs been changed?

Agreed, start with this first.
Mileage would help also.

Yes the cel is on. Battery connection good. Throttle body I have taken off and cleaned. Mileage is 215536. But the previous owners put a engine out of a cobalt in it after they had wrecked it. I was reading on here and was thinking maybe the evap purge valve. How would I check that oncce I get it off I should or shouldn't be able to blow through it. My battery ain't that old but it has been flooded and caught fire in back because my husband gave someone a jump and didn't put everything back and the jumper cables wiggled down and got stuck touching positive. So they caught fire.

If the CEL is on, you need to pull the codes. That will point you to what the OBD shows as a problem.

As far as the other stuff regarding wrecked, fried, burnt and misused. Sorry but those could have created all sorts of issues.

If the cables shorted the battery terminals, that can kill the battery, even a brand new one, and or fry the radio, computers and fuse box.

Wow, there's so many possible issues here. Start with the codes. Without those, due the potential issues with a botched engine swap and incorrect jumper setup, everything is just a WAG. Unless it's something simple you may be better off selling it whole for parts and cutting your losses.

Well it ran fine for about a year after the flood and fire. Just started all this within the last couple weeks. It's been 2 yrs since they swapped engine's. But I will take it tomorrow and get the codes. Thanks for all the help.

Just get the code numbers... Not the parts store's "interpretation" of the cause.
