2.4 vs SS

2.4 vs SS
Could someone post for me a direct comparison of the performance numbers for the 2LT versus the SS? Specifically, the manual 2LT versus manual and automatic SS? I bought my 2007 manual 2LT to get the maximum power available with the relatively inexpensive normally aspirated vehicle. Straight-line power is an American fixation and was never a big priority for me. However, I'm still curious as to how big a difference it makes....

I believe stock vs stock the 5-spd 2.4 is actually close to the SS Auto, but the SS auto is still faster. Put on the stage kit and the SS auto is much faster. I know the SS auto is noticeably faster than the 2.4 auto, even when stock as I previously owned a 2.4 auto. The SS motor is also more refined/smoother IMO.

1/4=16.2
1/4 MPH=87.2
2.0 TC/5 Speed
0-60 MPH: 6.21
0-100 MPH 15.13
0-130 MPH: 31.05

Sorry, never ran across the SS auto numbers.

I searched for auto numbers before for the SS. The only number I found was 15.1 for the 1/4 mile time. Now that is from some magazine that I forget so if it is right is still up for debate. But I think when I searched auto's on here I found some stock 1/4 miles around there.

What I found - 7.5 SS/auto vs 7.9 2LT/5-speed
To get all 260 ponies, you need to opt for the manual transmission; the engine in the automatic-equipped car is detuned to 235 hp, in deference to the four-speed automatic's fragility. For the SS, Chevrolet has shortened the manual's shift throws and moved the shifter both forward and up so it isn't such a far reach. Unfortunately, the five-speed's shift action is pretty notchy. Chevrolet quotes 0-to-60-mph times of 6.3 seconds for the manual and 7.5 for the automatic, but the gulf between them feels greater. Whereas the 235-hp car feels responsive but nothing more, the stick-shift SS is fast; the car doesn't shoot out of the hole, but its acceleration swells as if on a wave. Stay with it, and it will carry you all the way to 150 mph. The turbo's power delivery doesn't really lag, but it does build, with a faint, telltale whistle in the background. Mostly, though, what you hear is the cacophonous noise of the direct-injection engine, with some gearbox whine tossed in. You won't mistake it for a Honda VTEC engine.
