I had a CGS and then modified with a 10inch Edelbrock, ran it for a year, then modiefied the stock air filter with the side cut off, with a 90o elbow on both sides and 2 1/2 inch pipe welded to cold air from above the radiater for cold air replaced the stock air filter with the K&N works great.

I like the looks of the fancy GM box, but I have the K&N sounds good.

cgs is a HOT air intake. no real dyno numbers to prove it does anything more than make noise.

GMPP is best looking imo. But unless insulated underneath, it's a metal heat sink..

the K&N is made outta the best material to prevent heat sink.

The stock set-up (I believe) has the best low end torque of all..

Gm box is a fancy stock box. Much simpler to change filter tho ya cgs does suck in sum hot air and sum cool air fro the fender port as it sits beside the hole and its alwYs dirty on the spot the. Sum have built a box for the cgs so it traks in. More fresh air. What id like to do is get an inline filter canister and put pipe directly and also make the port a lil bigger. I used the cgs more in the winter in canada. And summer I use my modified chev airbox ive got steel pipe thT goes to the fender inlet. Insted of thT crappy cotton tube gm had on their

Anyone out there have pics of their intakes, aftermarket and modified? I thought the GMPP looked pretty b.a. but would like to see everyone's handy work.

Mullet check out my picks. I have a monitor that plugs into the OBD-2 port. It reads 16 items, (displays any four at once) and my intake air temp runs about 10 degrees F above the outside air temp. I took a K&N and insulated the heck out of it AND the stock flex tube.

Hmmm. On my stock SS intake, the intake temp is never more than 6 degrees higher than outside temp.
GM must have got it right for the SS.

I have the k&n one. It does fine. I cut a couple of pieces of plastic above the radiator to let air to the straight shot of the front inlet. Stuck a cookie baking sheet to fill the gap between radiator and motor. The bottom of the cookie sheet and the bottom of the k&n box have heat insulation. I ran an indoor outdoor temp sensor in it for awhile and it was usually either outside temp or a few degrees over.
