CGS Intake Mounting Point?
CGS Intake Mounting Point?
Hey all... quick question.
I am really leaning towards the CGS intake, just to clean the crap off the top of the engine. The whole airbox-up-top thing just confuses me... why make basic maintenance like changing the spark plugs such a PITA?
However, I am curious as to where the CGS intake mounts. From the pics I've seen of it installed it looks like it bolts to the valve cover or to one of the coil packs? I hope I'm wrong there.
Exactly how durable is that mounting point? I am concerned about bumps and vibrations working something loose or wearing it out over time.

Ehhh... that's what I was afraid of.
I snapped a valve-cover bolt on my LSJ with a small hand ratchet... those things aren't meant to hold much stress at all.
Well, that certainly doesn't make the intake decision any easier.
Thanks guys!

Hey Mike (GDZHHR)....
How would you know if that is a very stable mounting point !! You haven't driven the car going close to a year.
J/K, Mike...I know that situation can be very frustrating (but I just couldn't help myself).

Between the two over 40K on CGS intakes.
30k on my CGS intake. I have had the bolt come loose a couple of times. This happens because the intake vibrates when the engine is running. When I'm at idle it vibrates against the the windshield fluid bottle and make a noise you can hear.
I have been able to stop both of these problems. I put a little blue Locktite on the bolt and wedging a block of foam between the intake and the fluid bottle. The foam reduces the vibration buy reducing the intakes movement.
If anyone else has come up with a better solution let me know.

! We used a small amount of locktite and so far after a Year and 12,000 miles no problems to this point
