Question CGS/Outlaw Filter - rattling noise

Ok...I love the CGS Intake and Outlaw Air Filter. But I am tired of the rattling noise from the air filter hitting the engine comparment. I have done the mod of moving the washer tank back. I've made sure that the air filter is tighten on the intake. My apologies for posting if this question has come up before. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. - Rod

K&N has different sizes on an oval shaped filter that might free up some room.

I used foam weatherstriping about 1/2 along the washer bottle it seams to do the trick. Hope this helps. Jerry

I got the idea from hvrod; I switch to a K&N oval filter. It is smaller, oval and fits in that area very nicely. I wished I'd never bought the outlaw filter. It might have had more surface area for air but it was HUGE!

When I got my K&N, I got a spare for when I put the intake on my wife's so I have an extra CGS filter if anyone is interested. At least its smaller than the outlaw.

On my car the filter didn't hit anything but the metal tube of the CGS kept clunking against the hood shock... there's even a little mark on the CGS tube showing where it hits the shock. I finally got irritated by the clunk and removed the CGS unit and put the stock monster back on.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing OR getting the motorcycle filter. I'm leaning towards going stock again since I like quiet. But I really do think I gained a bit of MPG with the CGS.........

My CGS needs adjusting three times a day.

I'm a really conservative driver and I didn't really notice a difference when I installed the CGS except it's loud if you do put your foot into the pedal and I didn't like the "tone" of it either. I want my car quiet..my Harley has to be loud but my car I don't want to hear.. that's a minor point though. My car seems to be just as peppy without the CGS and there is no CLUNKING. I would have just bought a smaller filter if that's what was clunking but on mine it wasn't the filter so the stock monster is back on. I did take out the stock paper filter and put in a K&N OEM replacement filter.. maybe that's helping keep it peppy. I didn't notice any drop in MPG's either. I'll be listing this CGS unit on Ebay very soon.
