CGS review
Tire Pressure
I 've been running my tires @ 44 psi since I changed from Winter Air to Summer Air
....gained another 2-3 mpg and my tires will light up in Drive til the ole TC kicks in and smokes in L from a dead stop...

My CGS intake arrived this afternoon and it will be going on this weekend.
Can hardly wait to test the bad boy out.
Kudos to Mike at SoCalHHR's for quick shipment. Ordered Wednesday afternoon...arrived Friday afternoon.

CGS Discussion
Ok I have a couple of questions to the people who have installed the CGS Air Intake on their 2.4L HHR's.
I have included a picture of my first question. The air filter seems to fit rather tight as indicated by the yellow circle. Should I be concerned with this? There is a very small gap but I am concerned over the long haul that it might wear a hole in the filter. I positioned it so the CGS Pipe would run straight but it makes the fit pretty tight.

My second question is about increased idle speed. My 2.4L now seems to idle a bit faster. I may be mistaken but the motor seems to vibrate a bit more and I can see it because the MAF seems to be vibrating/moving more. Now it may be because I can actually see the motor now but I was just wondering.
My third question and this may be a pretty stupid question, but is the CGS Filter oiled and if it is what happens when I clean it do I need to do something to it. I know CJ said in one of his posts have a spare available but he also changed his out to a different filter. I am just curious and maybe a bit too anal, but we are leaving on a 2200 mile trip on Thursday and I just want to make sure I have everything in order. Need to change my oil before we leave and clean her all up but just thought I would ask.
Thanks for your responses.

John 11:
I installed my CGS intake (finally) yesterday. Same close fit next to the engine. The filter also touches the wiring harness attached to the inner fender panel. Since the engine and intake are bolted together, they should not move relative to each other. I'm hoping that this will keep the filter from getting a hole in it at the area you indicated. I'll keep a close eye on it to see if any abrasion starts occurring.
The intake sure makes a big difference in the sound. If you keep it at half throttle or less then it sounds fairly normal. At more than half throttle, the sound gets quite a bit louder (which is good in my book). That is actually a good feature which lets you decide if you want quiet mode or "engine roar" mode.
Also it does seem to spin the wheels easier and there appears to be a small increase in power.

The CGS filter comes pre-oiled. In general, an oiled filter should only need to be cleaned every 30,000 - 50,000 miles, more often if in a dirty or dusty environment. When that time comes, you can use a recharge kit such the one by K&N (http://www.truckshop.com/product.php?productid=19843)

Hope it helps,

Make sure that your CGS tube is inserted all the way into the Throttle boot..if everything is snug there including the ring clamp and the bracket to the cam cover fits tight, you should not have any vibrations......( I trimmed the outter edge of my bracket so it and the bolt would fit all the way down)
My 2.4 seemed to idle a little higher (200-300 rpms higher) at first...then after a few starts and driving, it was back to normal...a day maybe....
