Cold air intake?
#21
Love the simplicity of it Orange. I am gonna start the same mod this week in fact , loosely based on your design. I was thinking of retaining the stock intake duct and just adding an additional duct in the location you used.Since i have access to composite goodies( it's what i do ) I will eventually reconfig the whole system , but till then i was just gonna use a 3" alum semi-ridged duct with a alum, flange on the box and a homemade scoop between the radiator and brace.

Sorry to double post , but i forgot to ask a question. Has anyone experimeted with removing the fog lite blank offs and ducting from there. I know road racing uses them for brake cooling but it may work for this in my region for intake air, cold air is relative in Tulsa. Plus i just plain like the black chrome mesh guards i have seen on the market which would work perfect for this.

Intake
I thought about installing an aftermarket intake, and didn't find one that suited my criteria. I wanted a sealed unit with a cold air source and ram effect as well. After searching out various other members who modified their stock airbox I ended up adding a flex hose like HHorange to the drivers side. I decided to also keep the stock flex hose on the passenger side as well. Heck I figured 2 cold air sources are better than one, and also added a K&N filter. I used a 2.5" o.d. K&N flex hose and a Shopvac nozzle 2.5" x 8" and a couple of Shopvac connectors I cut off a 2.5 hose I had kicking around. I would attach pics but can't fiqure out how to insert them on this post. You can see the pics in my photo album on my signature. Thanks HHorange for your idea, very pleased with this mod. The flex hose and nozzle cost me about $40 but it would be less in the USA.

Ok I give , Shop Vac floor nozzle wins:). It fits perfectly , just using a Spectre connector and a 2.5" O.D. flex duct( hot water heater exhaust from HomeDepot , $9 ) then i just used a ShopVac reducer on the air box end and attached it with 2 part epoxy and some sheet metal screws. Total cost including new paper filter( as a benchmark for butt dyno testing), $45 bucks. I was lucky enough to have misc. screws and the floor nozzle.

yes I have , seems quicker on acceleration and lessened, sorry spelling, the dead spot in the rpm curve around 3-3.5k rpm range. As a bonus, "she" now has a noticeable growl on acceleration. I'll post some pics once i have a chance to tidy up the work and give her a bath. P.S. Forgot to mention, 'she" downshifts MUCH better post-mod. I am unclear as to why atm but definately research this more as I tweak the mod.
