Red face Exhaust

Any tips on a good sounding exhaust that won't also creat a lot of interior noise on the highway.

Thats a tuff one any one that sounds louder outside will be louder inside I have duals and rainman has a single we had them running side by side and they sounded almost identical His is a panel and he was able to insulate the cabin to make it quiet.I have noticed the time it is louder inside is between 2500 and 3600 on hard acelleration. When driving down the highway its not loud.If you like it quiet inside I'd keep the stock exhaust.

Exhaust sound is subjective. I would listen to videos instead of ask people what sounds best. Most people will tell you an exhaust system sounds good even if they don't like it because they just spend a couple to several hundred dollars for it.

Keep in mind the sound differences between turbo and NA as well.

I run GMPP exhausts on both the '07 and '11 and while there is more of a bark under hard acceleration, they are both as quiet as stock on the highway. You always have the option of adding extra sound insulation like Dynamat if the exhaust you choose is too vocal from the inside. Maybe you can get together with a member in your area who is running a performance exhaust for a ride along to hear for yourself. As with anything, exhaust sound is subjective. After all, Mazda spent tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours making the exhaust of the MX-5 Miata sound just right to the ears of sports car owners.

I agree it's subjective. Some say the Magnaflow exhaust is too loud but I think it's just right. Not too loud, not too quiet. But then again it's louder than stock (thank god) but it's no 40 series flow masters on a V-8 either.

Yeah, but what you wouldn't give to have your HHR sound like it was running a V-8 through 40 series Flowmasters, thunder 'o the gods.

Wish they did, I think they'd have a line out the door. There is nothing like the sound of a V-8, nothing in the world. My wife says I get this "goofy drooling idiot" look when I fire up the SS, she's right!
