Hib, I used to read your tech tips and product reviews when I was active on Corvetteforum.com. Glad to have you here. Do you still have the ZR1?

With all of GM-SPOs exhausts, you want to be careful. Initially, a lot of the aftermarket exhausts sold by the GM Performance Parts program were high-end systems...for instance: the first GMPP exhausts for C5 Vettes were made by Corsa. As time went on, the bean counters at SPO began to exert pressure and GM wanted to source their systems for less cost, ie: off-shore. GMPP Corvette exhausts are no longer good designs like Corsa and there is no reason to believe the GMPP stuff for HHRs is any better unless, you go to a dealer who has a system in stock and you look at it to see if it fits and get the dealer to agree to take it back if there's no performance increase.

I'll continue to wait for the Flowmaster system because 1) Flowmaster stuff is made in either Santa Rosa or Sacremento CA. and 2) the design won't get released if it doesn't improve performance.

Yep. I still own "Barney" the Purple ZR-1. 72,000 miles on it right now.

Maybe the competition will bring the cost down slightly

I find your post interesting...
Being that FlowMaster (From phone conversation) suggested I go with the Magnaflow (About a month ago) since they don't have anything available yet for the HHR.

I am pleased with my install (See my Gallery), and have since purchased another Magnaflow for my Colorado. Maybe they finally got with the program and have one available now?
