full intake or just a filter?

full intake or just a filter?
obviously, doing a k&n filter is going to be way cheaper but in reality is there much more gain with doing a full intake? Trying to do this right the first time instead of trial and error like I usually do. I like the sound and the what I think advantage of a full intake but when it all comes down to it, is it really that much better?

I agree about the 'engine cleaner look', least you would be able to actually see it..

I agree about plumbing through the fender well. It seems like a logical place to put the filter where it will draw cool air.
I have the GMPP intake, and like it. It does, however, make noise and covers up the top of the engine (but I like the look). It costs a bit too, but I did feel a power difference when I installed it, especially down low. The K&N full airbox system that breaths through the wooly tube too gets good marks from what I hear, and costs a bit less.
As was posted here, the K&N with the stock box seems to work well too.
