I can't remember the name of the filter right now but they are a foam filter not a mesh filter like the K & N.

Okay went and checked, they are the UNI foam filters.

OK...I read what catdaddy137 said about that long, flexible, felt lined stock cold air hose, so when I dropped in a K&N filter in my stock airbox, I took off that flex hose also. I'm new to the HHR world, but my 2.4 got an average, the last two weeks of 30.6 MPG average. That is about 70/30 hwy/city driving. After the filter and removal of that hose, I have been getting 34.3 on the exact same driving trip. And the sound is fantastic, but only when you punch it, and it FEELS (BUTT TESTED) faster. I'm darn happy now...
