I asked my dealer before I put on the CGS and he did not see that there would be any problem but, he did say to keep the original. I think it comes down to what the warranty would involve. I don't know about the muffler, but I would guess it would void any warranty on the exhaust system. I suggest you go talk to your dealer and ask.

I got my replacement K&N (not a CAI) put in working on my first full tank. Gone 100 miles so far. Looks like I may have gained about 2mpg. Before I was getting 24-26 now its been 26-28. I drive a lot of short runs 14ml to work 5 of it city then 5ml to and from ball practice.

For your information after several full ups, I can report a 4% increase in my fuel milage at highway speeds as a result of the K&N filter install.

Regards,

Just put one in Bonnie's car.

I do notice a difference in pick-up and a slight difference in sound, similar to my CGS intake but not near as loud. Taking it on a road trip this week-end but it looks like a good alt for those who don't want to use an intake. Paid about $36-37 on ebay.

Just a word of advice when you have a K&N intake, or K&N replacement panel filer, be careful not to over-oil your filter. If over-oiled some oil can bleed off the filter and contaminate the mass air flow sensor which most likely will not be covered under warranty. Other than that, it should not void your warranty. If you have a problem, a dealership might try to say your warranty is voided because of an aftermarket part, but they have to prove your problem is related to the aftermarket part.

Some dealerships will flat out say your warranty is voided regardless of the situation, but you just have to be persistent, or take it to a different dealership. It might be wise to keep your stock airbox just in case.

As far as warranty goes, a K&N replacement has to be found to be the reason to cause a warranty issue. I have been told by the local dealer that K&N filters will NOT void MY warranty and as far as exhaust goes as long as you DONT do ANYTHING in FRONT of the Catalytic Converter everything is FINE. I have a 2.25" system from the cat back and was told by the dealer it was fine and NO WARRANTY ISSUES!!!!! Hope this clears some things up.
