Question P0017 with new timing chain

Hi there,
Ive got a 2011 model (first car) and I just had the timing chain replaced. P0017 and P0016 showed up before the timing chain was installed. After the chain was replaced it only showed P0017 and its still here to this day. Recently i replaced the crank sensor and that seemed to improve performance. Still had P0017 though. tested both VVT solenoids and the exhaust one needed replacing (weird because there was no code for it) but i bought both and they are on the way. tested both cam sensors as well and they seem to be working ok. also when i somewhat aggressively accelerate the engine seems to not quite bog but almost struggle at low RPM in low gears. im lost at this point of what to do. any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you had a shop replace the timing chain for you and this code showed right after, why isn't the shop that did the work sorting it out?

I work with a family mechanic and he said to just check the solenoids for now. I'm currently working with him on this issue

Okay... I only ask because there seems to be a bunch of shops messing up people's cars and telling them they are on their own these days. Not saying this is what is happening here, just wondering.

I take it the check engine light is still on?

I’ve experienced this and it was the timing chain out of sync on the crankshaft sprocket by a tooth, must have moved while I was timing the camshafts. Read causes in this about the chain skipped a tooth, only it most likely didn’t skip, it wasn’t double checked before reassembly of the front cover and valve cover.

Possibly, however highly unlikely.

ok, ive replaced my solenoids and that didnt seem to fix it. My mechanic said he looked at everything at least three times over so i trust him on what hes saying. were planning on replacing both camshaft gears to hopefully resolve the issue. Again, in low gears at low rpm it seems to bog and then come right back up to speed. i am beginning to believe more and more that the gear is definitely the issue. timing on the freeze frame showed at about 970rpm timing was set at -1 degrees
