The K&N replacement filters are the same between engine, but K&N shows the intake kit to fit 2.4 only.

I think the valve covers are a smidge different if i remember correctly. Im a little anxious to get this bad boy out to the track and see what kinda difference it actually makes, it feels like it makes more power, but you all know how that goes, cant trust the butt dyno !

Correct - the engines are two different animals. that's why the two different valve covers.

I would love to hear a sound clip of that exhaust. The muffler is round and appears to be much smaller than the IMCO one. I also wonder how they compare in performance. And, keeping in mind that the Ecotech likes some back pressure, would it help to add a header? At least all of the cylinders would have equal flow.

Well the exhaust is a gm system made for the ecotec engine line,im sure gm knows what they were doing when they were searching for kits to make available for this particular engine. The ecotec may like seeing more backpressure than most cars, but regardless, performace exhausts are consistently showing gains by removing the stock exhaust. I know socal likes to debate this, so ill give him his chance now...
