One of our members had one installed by Weapon R themselves... and to this day, he has had no problems at all!

air intake

when I first got my HHR I went with the stock and went with the K&N, a year later went with the CGS, recently madw some cuts and welds to the CGS and mounted an Edelbrok 10 inch round filter better gas mileage and more performance located near where the air comes in from the fender ans cut a piece from the plastic next to the radiater. photo inthe Toms cruize page 31.

Cool Intake opinion

I vote for the K&N. It truly feeds cold air into the engine. Check out my gallery, and see how I've insulated the "wooly worm". The inside of the box is insulated as well. If the filter is configured such as the "CGS" shown above, it can't help but suck in hotter air. See if you can borrow a Scangauge from someone and compare the intake temp to the ouside air temp. (shown on the DIC, on the odometer screen). The Scangauge plugs into the OBDII port, and allows the display of around 16 different parameters. I like it because it shows volts, honest to God Volts! Also water temp, speed (with a correction function for tire size),Intake air temp, milage, ect. Also, with the "chrome tube" you get to look at the ugly as hell valve cover assembly. I painted all of that stuff, just 'cause I had the time and materials on hand.

K&N or GMPP hands down , you can't look past the fact that the CGS / Weapon R intakes pul air out straight of the hot engine bay and the filter is NOT protected at all. It's worth the extra dime to do it right.

Sorry you guys had to deal with the weapon R , they're pretty well known in the import world to have a pretty crappy product. Not surprised that hasn't changed.
