Could you give a link to the 'merdinus2006' site? I am curious as to what it sounds like.

I have the CGS, Autolite plugs, and IMCO muffler. Sounds and runs great. I also ran a y-pipe before the muffler and have it set up for dual exhaust. On the passanger side, I had a header collector welded to the end of the exhaust pipe. If I attach a solid piece of aluminum, it is closed exhaust and relatively quiet. By opening it, it is much louder. And by using a plate with holes in it, I can adjust the sound. For looks, I have a matching chrome tip attached to another header collector. I simply have the plate inbetween. This way, I can make the car quiet, loud, or inbetween.

I don't think links will work if I post them here. But, all you do is google You Tube, then videos, then just type merdinus2006 in the search box. There's only 1 vid for him.

But gee, now you won't need to with real HHR sounds available from socalHHR. I'm going to go listen...

That's easy. Getting a "loud" exhaust is very simple and easy to have.

Now, getting that in a quality sound is very hard. Small motors, higher RPM's. I have yet to hear any muffler that does not sound ricer on a 4 banger and be legal. Guess it just what you are used to and what you consider a nice sound. My previous verhicle had Gibson SS headers, duals, and flowmasters (50 series). With the engine mods, that was a nice sound IMO. But that was a 350 also.

Good luck with your search. If you want the civic sound, that's easy.

Thank you to all who posted replys to my muffler inquiry. Most of the comments were thoughtful and helpful and very much appreciated. The information will be very useful in my quest for the sound I'm looking for.
For those of you who just had to post the wisecracks...well, since this is a family site I'll just leave it at thanks for nothing!!

i highly recommend the dynomax super turbo. i have it on mine and i am a fan of civics and subarus and the jdm stuff. it makes it sound more throaty and a little civicy which is good on my part. it is sold at advance auto parts for 40 dollars. highly recommend it. hope you get it.
