'55 Chevy Taillight Conversion

Was searching for HHR goodies on the web and found a kit to convert the back of the HHR to '55 Chevy taillights. I searched the forum and didn't see anything about them - if everyone has already seen them sorry for the extra post.

I think these things are beautiful but pricy. I plan to order the kit if I can save up the pennies. Here's the location:

http://hhrboutique.com/items/hhr-ext...ons-detail.htm

And a couple of pics:

How do others feel? Cool or Ugly? Anyone installed this kit yet?

I like the look, but can't phathom shelling out THAT kind of cash for a bolt-on accessory that applies with two squirts of clear silicone and a couple of wingnuts. (per the instruction sheet).

Yup. They've been around quite awhile. HHR Boutique is a supporting vendor here. It's different. Just not for me. Here is a link to their thread here: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/deleted-threads-41/hhr-55-chevy-tail-light-conversion-kit-18856/

Not for me either. If I wanted something to look like a 55 chevy, I'd bought a 55 Chevy to start with. I have a thing about someone trying to make one kind of car look like another[but we won't get into that]. "Moon"

I happen to like the stock tail lights....... So these wouldn't be for me. They do look okay in the photos but I would think in real life they would look patched together. It would be different to get some '55 replicas and mold them into the body properly...... with a Nomad tailgate and all it would look slick......

I agree with Greybeard999; I also like the stock tail lights. The HHR looks best from the rear. Those '55 tail lights are just a little too loud and kind of akward looking.

Agree with Greybeard. They look like they were stuck on there with no smooth transition. Molded in they might not look too bad. Also way too pricey. I can almost buy a complete one-piece glass front end for my S-10 for that price.

Your mileage may vary.

Noticed theres no shots from the front of the car looking back at the lights.
Because they don't want you to see the cheessy transition. IMO \

I don't think they look aweful, But there not making me want a set. But they might look sweet on the BAT ride.

I kind of like them, but with all the add-ons I would want like the LED conversion and having them pre-painted, they cost nearly $2000. I can do a lot of mods for that much money. I could also pay a lot of bills. That is a lot of money to throw into a set of tail lights. I would just get the blacked out ICPW LED lights for about 1/8th the cost.
