All hhr seats the same?

first let me say GREAT site. i have a 2003 mustang i am ready to give up but that is a different story?

my two questions are.
if i order an ss with the regular seats (black/black) can i get katskinz leather covers to fit them or are the completely shaped differently from the regular leather seats?

also will the front bumper from a regualar hhr fit the ss edition? the ss's bumper is OK but is a little on the huge side?

anyway thanks in advance - jo

If you get a black one i will trade you bumpers!

Although it would look kind of funny with an Regular front bumper and an SS bumper in the back, so we might as well trade that too, and of course the grille as well.

You'd have a sleeper SS, it's look stock and be able to burn anyone, and i'd have a pimped out 2LT (well it's already pimped up, but how about double pimped?)

I'd even come down to Tennessee for the trade, ha

No the SS bumper can not be directly swapped for a standard HHR bumper. And the seats are a bit different as well.

BTW..........you do know that the SOM (orange) will not be available in the 09 line up.

Oh yeah............

yeah if you want orange you've got to find one now!

black's nice and elegant without being a ticket magnet like the red.....ha, can you feel the push..... just kidding.

I also believe, if you exchanged the SS bumper for the "standard", you would reduce the air flow to the intercooler of the turbo.

Also, if you are not planning on slightly cutting the standard bumper, to accomodate the SS grill, you would need to have the standard grill as well.

They're not even the same from an LT to an LS. The driver's seat upholstery is slightly different and required minor sewing to make it fit.

danngit....why couldn't they make the "downgrade in seat material" an option.

i am all about customizing so oh well...for the increase in power i will accept the large bumper.....but the seats will have to go for the regular leather ones if katskinz dont fit them.

Before you get too set on trying Katskinz check carefully since the last time I checked, their leather upholstery was not compatible with the air bag sensor in the front passenger seat (cloth seat). They even state that the upholstery is not air bag compatible............

Might not matter to you but it kept me from ordering from them.

It's so bad that the special thread that's used for side curtain airbags is not available to anyone outside the manufacturers. I was talking to a friend of mine that is an upholsterer and has been for 40 years, he can't get the stuff. You can't use a standard thread on it or the bags will malfunction. Just another way someone is preventing us from modifying our cars. If you recover it and years later sell the car, the bag malfunctions, you get sued for rendering it inoperative.
