well i have been looking up stuff and all the websites and even chevy state that the HHR is an SUV/CUV

so now if the judge isnt an A-HOLE like they usually are, he may understand; and the morons at the DMV would have to change the reg on my car...

Show the judge a picture and ask him what he calls it! If he says it's a 'truck', well, I would worry about his decision making!

I am looking at my Window Sticker from Chevrolet:
2006 Chevrolet HHR
LT Sedan

So at the time that the paper was made from the manufacturer mine was called a Sedan.

I thought that in most states ANY tint on the windshield is illegal.

as stated, this law may apply to just state inspections, but not nessicarily to drive on a state highway, as the trooper seems to always state

ok ill weigh in since i got a ticket a while back in my camry, i had limo on all windows, was put there by my parents when they owned the car, i bought it, got it inspected, and a week later got the ticket, he checked only the fron windows, gave me a ticket, and sent me on my way, in thew end i paid for retinting the front, and 50 bucks court fees woulda been cheaper to just pay the ticket. now to be honest i have had cars with the back windows painted black, not tint, just painted. and never got hassled, so if he was writing you up for the back windows he was looking for a ticket, get a lawyed if you have to and fight it, they need to make the laws clear and agree with each other... hell get the media involved, but first i would call the main dps office in austin and get a copy of the laws or ask a tint shop if they have a copy. and also ask an inspector. it will give you some ammo when you go in...
also here is a copy of the laws by state someone posted on the last thread. http://www.iwfa.com/iwfa/Law_Chart/S...%204-11-07.pdf
and lastly if you have eye problems, get a doc to sign a medical waiver form and send it in, then you can limo all around and thumb your nose at the dps guy.

AND...is that the state inspection law, or the dps trooper law for driving on state highways? because as ive said, they are different.
You should have to follow state law. Which should be the state inspection law. That is what law enforcement is supposed to follow. If the trooper is stating you are illegial, then they should be able to supply you with the law in writing (or the referance for the law). Seems to me that something is not right if you pass your inspection, but illegial to operate it on the road according to the cops.

Find out what your state law states and take that to court.

Definatley agree with solman. If the officer in question can't provide you with the statute that you are in violation of, how can he site you for violation? Sounds like it would be easily dismisalbe by any judge.
