thats what im hoping for....

see the laws seem to cancel each other out like i said...basically you can pass the inspection, but you cant drive on the highway..doesnt make sence does it?

i mean i have all the papers from when i purchased the car, and they say truck, insuracne says sport van...

the thing is if the judge says no matter what its a passenger car, and thats how it was registered as, them i guess im screwed?

How come people think you can't see out tint yet they drive a vehicle that comes mostly tinted out from the factory? Sorry to hijack but any time a tint thread comes up at least one person always has to make a comment about not being able to see through your tint if you do something in particular like tint the front or side windows or just because its night time.

There are times when I have difficulty seeing things out my driver's window. Ain't gonna change my tint, just saying......

I have never under any circumstance had any problems seeing through any level of tint whether night or day. I have more problems with blind spots like the huge A-Pillars or seeing traffic lights than I do seeing through my tint. But then again I never drive in any areas that aren't illuminated by street lights. My story might change in the middle of nowhere with no outside light sources other than the moon and stars.

The only issue that I ever have with my tint is parking at night. Punky's spot is off to the side of the main driveway (landlord gets the garage) and I back in for easier takeoff - so I just drop down the driver's window and stick my head out for accuracy. Thankfully I haven't had to reverse-park in the rain yet.

When I have trouble is at night turning off of my street.

No lights and almost always cars/trucks parked on both sides of the street, before and after the corner.

It is the only place I've had issues with not seeing. I'm just very careful since I know that is a trouble spot.

little update..

went to the judge but he wasnt there.. the dumbass secretary was like we are going to go just by what the trooper stated in the ticket, illegal tint.. i said he checked the REAR windows of a 4 door vehicle, thats sold to me as a truck and insuracne recognizes as a van.. she was liek blah blah and i said well i guess ill get a trial by jury then and she was like uhhh*pause* well thats a choice you have, and is aid of course, if the judge just goes by the ticket without any evidence that its considered an SUv or truck etc, then its not fair..hopefully the bastard(judge) isnt biased towards the trooper or pollice since he himself was a sheriff, and just thinks that whatever the trooper writes is always correct..

anyways something for the texas crowd....i still didnt get a straight answer to this but, maybe it can clear a little bit up....i talked to the ppl who reggd my car and yes its regged as a passenger vehicle.. ishowed my papers to the lady and said its sold to me as a TRUCK and insurance says its a VAN, and she kept on well its not a truck, and i kept saying look at these papers its a TRUCK and sold to me ads a NEW TRUCK...anyways she was like well then its a passenger vehicle, and i said in theory any vehicle is a passenger vehicle...she named several vehicles that are reggd as passenger with a code called LL after it which says its an SUV/truck...and i said well look here, it says i was sold a TRUCK, and this was going in circles.. so does anyone know what it takes to get regged as an SUV/truck?

well i saw a cop(off duty, he was in the place getting plates i think) and i told him the situation and he ws like the damn trooper doesnt know sh*t..he told me to go to an inspection shop and check with them; he himself even stated that they only are supposed to check the front driver/passenger windows, etc....

wish me luck...

Well, I don't know how things are done down in Texas but I know up here in Alberta that vehicles are registered in a database (I don't know who classifies them) but when the VIN is enetered it comes up with a code.

In my case the HHR shows as a van. Interestingly enough, the make associated with the HHR shows up as Geo/Chevy. I thought the Geo part was kinda strange but that's the way it is in the system.

Now, insurance companies can insure the vehicle as a slightly different class. I thought I might get a slightly smaller rate considering that the HHR was a van. My insured put it as a car (really quite generic.) I asked them about why it's not insured as a van and they said that is the way they have it in their system.

So basically, up here at least, the registery is the more official place to look and then insurance sets their own policies. So, if Texas is similar, it won't matter what your sales papers or insurance papers say.

I know all this is to try to get out of a ticket but does anyone REALLY think this is a truck or SUV or van??

Come on, it's a car-based platform! It's just a dressed up Cobalt station wagon. But when you have GM classing it as a car and a truck there will never be anything but confusion for legal classification.

But really, come on, it's a STATION WAGON!!
