Come on, it's a car-based platform! It's just a dressed up Cobalt station wagon. But when you have GM classing it as a car and a truck there will never be anything but confusion for legal classification.

But really, come on, it's a STATION WAGON!!
the law in texas needs to be really clear and defined as far as im concerend....
i mean ye ai do think of it as a small SUV, or a station wagon

i mean of course the state will always try to rule in thier favor, just like in a casino when there is a dispute, its always in thier favor, unless clearly its in the favor of the player...

Our dealer had ours listed as a truck... This was making me ill cause I thought about how much truck plates cost. But we had bought it so we had to do what we had to do! When we went to put plates on it... DMV said it was not a truck..because it does not have an open bed. We just transfered the plates off of our Aveo to the HHR. And FYI the insurance is cheaper on the HHR than it was on the Aveo.

El Rey, fight this one as long you can afford it. That it ridiculous that the state laws contradict each other. We all know tinting is so important in Texas due to the heat of the sun. Hope all ends well and the ticket is torn up!

well so far its not looking good...
and this isnt really just to get out of a ticket, cuz the fine is nothing really, no big deal to pay

well called the judge this morning, he left instructioins with his secretary, and stated that "no matter if the tint is or was removed after, the fine will not be dismissed."

what a *****....now im guessing the only thing i hve to do now is to talk to the inspection guys and see if i would pass inspecton and do the not guilty thing....

dunno...i really wanted my vehicle to be regged as an SUV but i guess all that isnt gonna happen...

so texas ppl, becareful with the tint.. i was lucky for over a yr, but my luck ran out.

I agree 100%. Sounds like Texas is real confising on this.

I already had to deal with the tint issue myself. I just pais one of the local traffic lawyers you find on every other corner and paid my fine. Still got 20% on the fronts and factory all around.

you sure you didnt get busted in Santa Fe (TX)?? sounds like the scum bag i had when i got busted, even after a retint it came out at 32 or something... like 2 points darker then 'legal' and he wanted to make the fine stick... he even got a little upset with the State Trooper when the guy told him that within 5 percent they usually let it slide... still stuck me with about half the original fine in court costs. this friday ill be getting my medical letter signed and get it off to the state... after fry's ruined my back window tint im alreafdy getting it redone for free might as well have my tinter redo all windows while im at it...

anyways good luck, oh and something else you might try, when you go in inform them you would like to exersize your right to a trial by jury. at least around here it is usually tossed out or you get offered a deal.

this is a small updat eon the whole situation...

i plead NOT GUILTY and wanted a trial by jury...
hopefully they see it my way and i get a dismissed or i win the case...
still havent heard a thing from them..

for those in TEXAS i emailed my state rep, PETE GALLEGOS and his whole office as well as him were so :concerned" about the way the law was written, etc etc...

so maybe if we got more ppl to email him or thier state reps maybe we can change this thing.. like the way the bikers did with the helmet law...
