If you bought a wreck and were making a "Rat Rod" I think it would be worth it. Cut All the fender flares(on the front doors,front and back wheels) and remove the bumpers. Add old school bumpers, bring the hood down, add round headlights and fill in the wheel wells with aluminum sheet. You could also chop the top down and lower the seats. It would work.

I don't know about taking the front off, but I'd like to see someone cut the roof off and make a pickup!

That's much cleaner.. I see they used roof racks as bed rails too..

I was visiting my Dad on Thanksgiving, and we were talkin racin stuff, and he said he'd like to find a HHR that he could get dirt cheap that has a blown motor and build a tube chasis and put a very built small block in it. He said that would be kick ass in his book!!!!

The first HHR club I joined there was a guy who had a bunch of pics in his gallery of his converted V-8 in various stages of the conversion.I guess it's a real job, but what a beauty he ended up with.
