Angry Black Chrome Wheels - Clear Coat Flaking

I have the 2007 Premiere Edition with the 17" Black Chrome wheels and when washing it today I noticed that I have two wheels where the clear coat is flaking off. I know it's not from me (mistreated, wrong polish, etc). The car is less than a year old and 15,000 miles on it. This is a problem I wouldn't expect to have and not sure if the dealer will take care of this or not. I haven't had any problems at all until this. Overall it's been a great little car for us.

Has anyone else seen/heard this problem before and was there a fix that did not require me paying for anything? For it to to start flaking after 10 months is some poor craftsmanship that I'm not prepared to fix out of pocket

I've seen it on two other HHRs, both members here, and each of them are having them replaced by Chevy.

It's really a shame, I love those wheels.

Yes, since they have a defective finish.

Angry

I'm experiencing the same problems on 2 of my rims. I took my HHR to the dealership the other day and I made them aware of this problem. I'm waiting on the dealership to take care of this problem. I will let you know how it turns out.

Yeap i have had my black chrome replaced.... well three now..... cant get them in without being damaged or defective.... the newer ones are little more darker than the ones that are on my fall edition.. waiting on my 7th wheel to come... to make all 4 of mine being replaced.
also had a door handle replaced...

GM replaced my wheels no question, well they tried to get a local wheel guy to repair. but he doesnt do black chrome.. Chevymgr commented on the forum that the only place he found was calif. to ship them to..

The replacement wheels on the first 2 replacements we did are darker. I actually like them better. Of course I noticed the difference since I own one, and I pointed it out to the owner. I ordered two more so he would have a matching set. I hope they come in as dark as the first two. GM is having us return the old wheels to them so they can get their money back from the supplier. Hopefully these new ones will be better.
