Question Brake Caliper paint.

For those of you that have painted your brake calipers, What did you use to do it? Was it hard? I bought some spray for the drums, it says it takes 7 days for the paint to cure does that mean I cant drive my car or put my rims on for a week? I would use this paint for the calipers but I want paint that I can brush on. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

cleaned the calipers down with brake cleaner, dried and put on a few light coats.
by the time i was done with the 2nd caliper the 1st was dry.

put my rims on and started on the rear.

I bought Caliper Paint at Wal-Mart. Worked excellent, dried fast and was nice and shiny, thus easy to clean. I used red, but I think they have other colors. Clean the calipers really good, I used a wire brush then a spray on brake cleaner and let it dry for an hour or so just to be sure.

Did you remove the calipers and drums, or just mask around them?

I used pink nail polish and a hair dryer to dry it. Looks great. LOL

Must be fast with 2 part paint

Make sure you have all four wheels off and the calipers cleaned and masked before you mix the paint. You only have a set amount of time before it sets up in the can. Of course that is in the directions, but who reads those anyway. I painted mine with the duplicolor RED the first week I had it and the RED looks great on the Black SS. ANyway have fuin with it.

PS: If you ever decide to sell the 79 El Camino let me know. I had a silver 79 SS.

I used the Duplicolor brush on to eliminate the trouble of masking off everything. It was fast and it dries smooth with no brush marks.
