Compass Question:

I have an 08 LT WITHOUT whatever package included the compass, but the mirror contains the compass, it just doesn't work. Does anyone know whats needed to make it work? I'm not sure if it needs a different wiring connector with the needed wire, software or maybe just plugging in a fuse or something.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,

Krusty.

Mine also wasn't working when I got my 08 and thought the compass was standard. Read though the manual and found the answer. TURN IT ON. There is a botton on the far left on the mirror with a circle and hand that almost looks like a symbol for a clock with one hand needs to be pushed. That is the "on- 0ff" switch.

Red face Re: Compass

Ahhh....CRAP! I feel like such a Doofus! It works fine now, I just thought that button was another Onstar button, which I don't use. Really stupid thing is that I like reading my new car manuals and read the HHR's like a good novel! Oh well, I guess this is why I joined this forum.

Cheers!!

Both...If you press and release, the compass goes off.

If you press and hold, the compass comes back on, and you disable the auto-dim..

Of course, the next time you start the car, the auto-dim is restored.

Smile Re: Compass

Read through the manual and learned the following. If you turn the compass off and then press and hold the on button, it turns off the auto-dim feature. If the compass is already on and you press and hold the button, it will show numbers. These are zones, depending on where you live.....since the system needs to adjust for latitude. Default is mid-west and is an 8. Southern Ont. is 10. Newfoundland and California would be the east and west extremes. Keep pressing the button to change the number to correspond to the map, let go and it will store that setting.

Cheers!
