Has anyone made any type of custom rails or even the a complete rack? The price for the cross rails is crazy! I don't see paying over $200 for two rails....

Trying to come up with a few ideas???

i been considering some aftermarket roof systems...some are also very pricey , but there is 1 that i have seen that i like...the side rails sit very low profile so that they are hardly noticed , unless the cross pieces are installed...it is an old style that has been used for many years on many vehicles...but i would want them to cover the existing holes where my oem rack is at..if i remember or find where i seen them , i will post...it may have been 1 set i seen on fleabay....i like very much that they are low profile..but i don't think they have much capacity rating , but i could be wrong about the rating...i think the gm oem is 280lbs.

Stock HHR roof rails are only rated up to 150 lbs.
