Custom grill...finished?
I just got done doin' the chrome luggage rack rails on my '07. I did everything just as they told me, all the measurements were right on the money and the template was aligned exactly along the body lines per instructions. Well, when I tried to do the rear rivets abd screw the crimper it missed the opening in the under skin by a few centimeters on both sides. I ha to use another nut as a spacer to get the rivets to install and the installer bolt not to bottom out. Personally, I don't think the manufacturer cuts the inside part of the templane straight so things are just a tad off. Has anyone else had this problem? They look great it's just that little snaffu that bothered me.
Still no answer

"I cut apart the grill and plastic welded the cutouts back in, then a little bondo and filler, sand sand sand then high coat primer, sand sand sand then paint....you can see pics in my gallery... good luck with it!"
I have little experience with plastic welding, so I decided to use PlastiFix. It's kind of expensive, but it seems to be doing a great job on my grille so far.
It's available here: http://www.urethanesupply.com/plastifixhowto.php
Harbor Freight has several plastic welders, if you wanna go that route. They are available here: http://search.harborfreight.com/cpis...plastic+welder
I just made an old school 'Gutter-Guard grill' for my lower, & powdercoated it black. Which didn't take me long..
Lower does catch lots of crap, I pulled out a plastic coffee cup last time on the super-slab.. Glad it wasn't some damaging debris...
Even tho starting in 2008 the HHRs' came with some oem plastic condenser & lower rad proctection.. I still feel better with the Gutter-Guard Grill added..& in black gloss it's almost totally invisible.
& if one day I go Billet, I'm only out less than $10 clams..
