Now if someone made an overlay that layed right over the HHR upper panel only that would be cool. Something similar to the current dash trim kits everyones installing. IIt would need to be 3 piece kit since there you have the separate airbag and storage console panel.
That is an absatively posilutely great idea!

Seriously, though, for those who don't have the necessary skills or scratch needed to do the painted dash, or even for alternatives such as woodgrain or carbon fiber, this would be a hit, I'm guessing. Especially because I don't think it would require removal of the dash pieces, which adds an exceptional splendor to this idea.

Just thought of something else in respect to painting the dash panel other plastic parts. Rather than painting it the traditional way, powdercoating it would be better. Powdercoating is much more durable than traditional painting so it is much more resistant to scratching and fading and produces a very even coat and can be done in both glossy or flatter finishes. I did some reading and while traditionally powdercoating is usually reserved for metals due to the heat necessary for curing process new techniques and products apparently allow it to be done on certain plastics using lower temp curing techniques that will not melt the plastic. Just thought I'd share.
