I went with the billet route. I got a Stull grill and absolutely love it. I also added racing stripes. I'll post pics soon

I totally disagree that the out side needs to be slick and striped of all emblems. I love the old school look with all the Chrome. it is stickly and oppinion issue. How much faster can a HHR go with out the Chrome and emblems? The reason I bought the HHR was because of the old look with modern teck. This is what I am talking about.Name: PICT0205-1.jpg

Holmes if that's your ride that's been clad with a TON of Chrome trim... it looks absolutely sweet! IMO it's the most complete retro-throw back interpretation I've seen on a HHR yet!
Agreed, to each their own, but I decided to remove the 'contemporay' stock HHR badging in exchange for a (real) chrome scripted "Chevrolet" emblem. Just seems to go with the stock retro-styling of the car better!
Keep up the good work!

Each to their own on badging. i did take off the lil GM's on the sides, LT and HHR badging on the back and then put on 2 chevy scripts on the hood, one on the rear, cutom designed HHR logos on the back but mine are painted on and cleared over and then i have the chev script above the radio

i have on order 2 blue chevy bowties to get rid of the yellow ones on there now.

if we were all the same we would drive our HHRs like all the people out there that buy their car and never do anything to it.

alot of HHR people will just do that too, buy it and drive it

i personally want people to know I am chevy proud and i have 5 and want to put some chev logos on the MB wheels i have

no one is right or wrong, its all about personal choice and that is what makes the HHR fun and the HHR your own.

here is hoping not to see 2 that are alike and enjoying the differences

Thanks, for the thumbs up. I have gotten some new and old Ideas from this forum and I like CJ like all the different looks. As for me, I will always be old school.

Props to you Holmes! ... as well as YOU, CJ (personal advise on the scripted Chevrolet emblem) ! and anyone else out there trying to 'personalize' thier ride in thier own special way. Customizing is one of the oldest forms of expression that can invoke awe-inspiring results!
Seeing that we really have no documented reference (e.g. Chilton's manual, etc...) - we really need to rely on one another for advise. Some of us (sponsors) even profit from our mistakes, wants, and needs. A *special kudo* to you for supporting our "habits"!
As for me, I've actually been trying to 'de-gold' my HHR for sometime now. I CAN'T STAND the chrome trim in front, back, and wheels offset with GOLD bowties. I just haven't figured out a way to 'tastefully' resolve all of these problems.
Seeing that I'm working on trying to fab a 1-off grill insert, I'm curious if anyone has any 1st hand experience in taking of the chrome trim on the hatch? If so- any pic's and/or write-up for the 'How To' section? Not really sure if I've gotta pull the interior trim off or not (want to Black the whole piece out - bowtie included). Although, CJ- I *AM* interested in those BLUE bowties your working on (not sure of the sizing). I tried taping off the bowtie with 3M Blue reflective tape but it didn't look right seeing that I couldn't wrap it over the 'thickness' (edges) of the badge. Your reading my mind... lemme know how the fitment works out!

I've installed a '55-57 vintage Chevrolet script on my pass side dash:

At first it seemed a little large, but it's growing on me. That area has always been begging for an emblem IMO. I'd love to have one about 2-inches narrower, but this is the best option I've found so far in this script style. It's held on with double-sided tape so changing it out later is no problem.

I like it - and that's all that matters.

On removing the rear beauty bar: You will have to pull the inside hatch panel off to get it off. Some screws can be pulled from the putside, but it is secured from the inside. Lots of work involved there.

We're working on a replacement part for this area - smoothed with no logo.
Should be a couple of months away for a final product.

Hope it helps,

That looks good Mike. Might be a little big, but it's very classy. You're right. that space is just begging for something to be put there.
