Des Colores

So I've been scouring the Internet (and this awesome forum!) looking at all of the color options for the HHR... blue is my favorite color and looks awesome on the HHR but I also think that red looks ravishing on this ride!

So, what made you guys/gals opt for your particular color choice and have you found that some colors fare better than others over the long haul as far as paint quality is concerned?

Thanks!

My color story is fairly long but.........I only like driving dark or earth tone vehicles so black was my first choice followed by dark silver. I was looking for an pretty much full optioned 2LT minus the XM, OnStar, and spoiler. I found a fully optioned black 2LT by me but the dealerships owner and salesman are kind of a pri*ks so I didn't want to deal with them. I looked around a little more and found a dark silver 2LT that didn't have the three options I didn't want but I also didn't have two of the options I wanted, leather and side air bags. The side air bags weren't a main selling point for me because I just wanted the insurance discount and I prefer leather but I can live without. The dealership has a pretty good reputation and the salesman was an decent guy so I worked out the numbers on that HHR. So I guess I picked my color based on the HHRs options and my wanting to give business to a particular dealership and salesman. I kind of felt like a trader to my race though because it was the first time I bought my car off of someone other than an Italian. The paint has held up fairly well for the little over two years I've owned it. I have typical rock chips and so forth that you would have on any vehicle.

First of all, nice Exorcist reference... and I love the quote in your sig!

Anyhoo, I've always had black cars and feel the need to switch it up a bit... that's why I was thinking blue or red. But, as you pointed out, the package deal is really important too.

P.S. I'm Italian too!!! One of my nicknames is "The Italian Stallion."

Which blue and red? 2008 models there is blue metallic flash(blueish purple color changing) and imperial blue. Then with red there is victory red(brighter red) and cardinal red(deeper red).

Love the purplish hue, but asking $295 for it seems a bit excessive to me. Hell, special paint jobs on Jeeps are $150-$225! The Imperial seems a bit too dark for me; I love "Gator Blue" (as in FL Gators) so I really love the old Daytona Blue. For the reds, I'd probably opt for the Cardinal ~ it's a nice deep tone.

Size: 5.6 KB to the site!!! I chose Black because I thought it looked great on the HHR. However, I would never suggest Black as it is a very hard color to keep looking great. I have owned many Silver cars and they were a breeze to keep looking good.

I wanted the Daytona Blue. That is why I wanted the 2006 model. Since it was oly offered that year, glad I got a year 1 and only color.

Tell me about it... plus, I let the rain "wash" my car so the black looks even more dismal!
