Does anybody make these?

I am going for the "Lead Sled" look. Mine is already lowered (goldlines) with full moon wheel covers. It's lookin' pretty good, but what is needed, is Chrome (or stainless) "shin-guards". Those BIG chrome pieces that used to be on many cars in the late 40s and fifties. They covered most of the front part of the rear fenders. On an HHR they would be about where the "chip-proofing" is on the rear fender. I don't think anyone is making them yet. I wonder if a pair could be fabricated and made to fit? I think that for now, I am going to have to just paint some on the fenders, in a bright, clean silver. Maybe have someone do a little airbrush shading for extra effect. Any other ideas, or suggestions?

I'd suggest getting a set of the chip-gaurds and painting them or finding someone who can chrome hard plastic.

Hey Ed, what about the thin, self-adhesive stainless that is used on rocker panels, etc? I mostly see it used on pickups, places like stylin' trucks sell it. I've never used it myself, but it would probably conform to the simple curves on the lower forward fender area. I don't think it would be difficult to fabricate a set using 20-22 ga. sheet steel, then have chrome plated. 304 stainless would be better, but it's a little difficult to form as it's kinda springy. Let us know what you come up with, others here might have this mod in mind also.
