Door Lock Buttons
Found this by SoCal after doing a quick search......
The rod is not threaded as most usually are - instead, it has twisted self-cutting threads. It seems all you need to do is:
1) Remove the stock knobs
2) Put the lock rod up and cut it (with a Dremel tool), to about 1/4" above the door frame
3) Drill your new knobs out to the same size hole as the stock knobs.
4) Install the new knobs

You are in luck, the below site one of our many nice Vendors have just the thing for you.
The knobs are screwed in, even with the new locks you would still have cut the rod.
